EMPOWERING EMPLOYEES: OUR VISION AND VALUES AT CARGO WAGON

At Cargo Wagon, we’re dedicated to building a strong, responsible business through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and by investing in our employees’ growth and development. In our interview with Nikola Bažíková, HR & CSR Manager, we explore why employee development matters and how we support it.

Why is employee development essential at Cargo Wagon?

Employee development is a cornerstone of our company philosophy. By investing in training and education, we enhance professional skills and boost motivation. At the same time, we support employee satisfaction and loyalty, which leads to higher productivity and lower turnover.

Our CEO, Pavel Holomek, emphasizes the importance of giving people opportunities to do work they enjoy and to grow at their own pace. Despite being a small company, we value diversity and strive to offer equal development opportunities to everyone. We genuinely care for our people, and in return, they show loyalty, bring fresh ideas, and deliver stronger results.

What learning opportunities do you offer?

Our employees can attend e.g. language courses during work hours directly at our premises or learn anytime through online platforms such as Seduo and Skillmea.

We regularly organize First Aid training in cooperation with the Slovak Red Cross and host annual soft skills training sessions open to all. This year, we’re looking forward to a Lego Serious Play workshop focused on self-reflection and team collaboration.

Beyond general training, we also support participation in professional conferences and workshops motivating our employees to further deepen their expertise.

How do you keep employees motivated?

We aim to create a work environment where people feel good and collaborate effectively. We support a hybrid work model, offer flexible working hours, and make small improvements to our offices every summer.

We set goals together with employees, evaluate results regularly, and support them in achieving their objectives. And above all, we make sure our employees feel valued.

How does Cargo Wagon support workplace relationships?

Good relationships boost motivation, so we have created a relaxation zone for informal meetings, perfect for casual coffee breaks and friendly chats. We involve teams in CSR initiatives and training sessions, which build shared memories and strengthen the team spirit. I aim to organize activities that resonate with as many employees as possible.

We also regularly organize team-building events, which serve as a rewarding complement to everyday responsibilities. This year we enjoyed glamping at Počúvadlo Lake. By the way, the team-building is organized by the employees themselves – they choose the location, plan the program and choose activities… and this year, it was amazing! (special thanks to Sima, Jana, Stano, and Paťka!)
